After our usual morning of lounging around on our beach listening to the calming surf with our coffee, we got into our trusty limo and headed into town. We parked beach side and walked the shops. We scouted out Fido's where we planned to hit for the entertainment (Kelly McGuire) later that evening.
We met Hardy and Jamie and they reserved a table for us, with the caveat of be here before 5:30pm otherwise we give away your table! We did find a couple of art galleries to check out much to Munchie's delight!
We stopped in at the Island Torch for lunch and it was very good. Brenda had a bowl of chicken soup that came with half a chicken in it! I ordered a small pizza and it turned out to be bigger than most of the larges we get back home (it was quite tasty too!). After sating that desire to sample the local wares we headed back to the ranch (JT with his trophy, a Belikin ball cap complete with a bottle opener in the brim!). I've noticed a pattern developing, we can't go by the Pirate's Treasure without my darling bride singing out its name, but usually she alters the name to whatever she is thinking at the moment, ie; Pirate's Palace, Palace Paradise, Pirate's Paradise, Paradise Treasure! We believe that it may already be wearing thin on the Jason the owner!
Once home it was time to prep for our evening at Fido's. The ladies donned their best frockery, the gents suitably attired for the occasion (shorts and tees all round!) and off to Fido's (with the usual salute by Brenda as we passed the Pirate's!).
We rolled up to Fido's early enough to secure a prime parking spot for ol' 07 (our Cholo cart #) right outside the door! Hardy had held our table dutifully and because we were early! We settled in for the evening.
We bumped into the three John's we had met at the Palapa Bar, who were big McGuire fans. Kelly seems to have a regular throng of admirers down here. We had a bite to eat before the entertainment got under way and the meal was very good. Dan and I shared a seafood platter for two (it was listed as a Lover's Platter on the menu, but since none of the lovers wanted to share Dan and I stepped up!) Let me tell you, we did not go away hungry! The portions were huge!
The evening was a great time. Kelly McGuire, an admitted Jimmy Buffett wanna-be, was pretty good. Although the general consensus at
our table was that he could have done a bit more singing and a bit less yappin'!
have ever met! Kristina was selling her mother's handmade jewelry, mom had a table infront of Fido's beach side. Well the big brown eyes bit our little Munchkin and she made a purchase! We learned that Kristina was turning 8 years old on Feb. 16! When she was done with our table Dan directed her to a young couple seated by the bar. He figured she would have a sale there judging by the couples appearance and he was bang on, Kristina was able to entice the young lady into a purchase!
When we quit Fido's and jumped in ol' 07 we were ready for the journey home. Every venture out in the cart is an event in itself and there is much mirth and antics during the rides! This trip was no exception, with the usual verbal salute to the Pirate's by our Munchie as we pass by!
Tomorrow we have our charter booked for snorkeling and a visit to Caye Caulker. We are expecting the boat to be here by nine am. So with that I sign off. Friday's adventures will be next on the blog!
